About me

Lateral thinking • Releasing potential • Going further

This website is about sharing thoughts, ideas and stories from my work experiences, hobbies and social engagement. I believe that sharing knowledge and cooperation leads to great success as well as exciting projects.

In our dynamic, fast changing world disruptive ideas come up from different mindsets and discussions with various people. As high motivated talents in science we all should use our ideas to do our best in transforming the society into a better one.

Because of my different experiences and my journey through life I become a lateral thinking, open minded person which every time loves to think different with the goal to unleash potential and going further - not only for me, but for the talents and characters I work with.

Hopefully this section introduced myself a bit. Hereinafter you can get an overview of my experience and skills.

Success raises up from the values you live

Be yourself

Be the change that you wish to see in the world

Mahatma Gandhi

I’m an experienced computer scientist. My main fields of knowledge are software engineering, requirement engineering, automated driving, AI, machine learning and data analytics. In general, I love to work in different areas of IT to learn new perspectives every time. My work focus is on making successful digital products, services or processes.

The way to computer science started with my choice for information technology in High School. 2005 I chose the Leibniz Universität Hannover for my studies. Why? Because the University of Hanover has a big focus on computer science with great institutions, warmly professors and is open to support their students in all directions. In my Bachelor of Science studies from 2005 to 2009, I focus on the basic studies for computer science like mathematics, databases, statistics and electric engineering. The lectures about requirement engineering and software quality on the one side and robotics as well as real-time systems on the other side set my further study direction. Requirement engineering teached me that innovation and success don´t come itself by using awesome technologies - it raises from the people that work together.

With this mindset I started my Master of Science study in 2009. I mainly focused on requirement engineering and robotics. During my master study time I tried to work in various projects.

In 2013 I finished my Master of Science studies and started my Ph.D. in the area of autonomous driving at Volkswagen Group Research. From the Leibniz Universität Hannover Prof. Dr. Bernardo Wagner and Prof. Dr. Christian Müller-Schloer were my supervisors. In my Ph.D. thesis I build up a landmark based localization using characteristics of the surrounding environment elements. If you would like to know more, check out my Research & Publication page.
I submitted my Ph.D. in 2016. A great success factor was the transfer of my developed approach to the Autonomous Intelligent Driving GmbH which will further improve my idea with the goal to bring it into the vehicles. For me the Ph.D. time was a very special experience.

After the Ph.D. I switch from Volkswagen Group Research to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Hanover. From 2016 to 2018 I worked in the area of commercial mobile online services and build up the product ConnectFleet.io. I was responsible for the main architecture, the common processes and set up the continuous integration and deployment toolchain. Furthermore I introduced an End-2-End-Testing Framework which tests automatically the different processes between all roles and devices in ConnectFleet.
Among other things I helped to established an "Agile Community" at Commercial Vehicles, which is open for everyone and promote the culture change.

Since November 2018 I am working on a new project called "VOICE". VOICE is an internal feedback platform for products, services and processes employees use. It connects people who give feedback to their daily used services with the corresponding responsible person for the services.
With VOICE I also aim to change a bit the cooperate culture by making everything open. All timelines, budget-plans and progress of VOICE can be seen by everyone in the company. Nothing is hidden. This is a totally other way to handle projects and I am exited if it will be adapt by other projects.

Nevertheless, I decided to leave Volkswagen and take up a new challenge with a small family office in May 2019. THI Investments GmbH is a private equity investment firm that invests primarily in education, industrial, healthcare and business services.
The unique thing about THI, besides the great and really lived values of freedom, flexibility, fairness and fun, is the operational excellence and diversity. Through these cornerstones, THI can help your portfolio companies grow. Hence, I am responsible for all IT relevant topics - an exciting and challenging task in various industry sectors that motivated me to change.

Next to all this working stuff, I am a very familiar person. I love to spend time and activities with my family members and friends. Parenthetically I do a lot of sports and I like to go for runs. Playing Squash and swimming are my two other sport favorites. My sport activities are the mental break I take to come off from work.

One of my major values is to help others and make my knowledge available. Thats why I am always active in social engagement. It started with an engagement in my local community to prepare the World Youth Days 2004. After this, I involved myself in different social projects. For example I help to organize the Intel Leibniz Challenge at my University or help abroad students to start their semester in Hanover by participate the Study Buddy program. Since 2019 I am in the committee of the German National Academic Foundation to select new scholars and become their mentor.

I hope you could get an overview about my values, habits and skills. You will find all my references on LinkedIn. I am always happy to get in touch with others and talk about various tech topics. You can leave me a message over the contact me site or by writing a line via LinkedIn or Twitter.
