Talks

There is always something you can contribute

It is always a great pleasure to present different thoughts or work results to a plenum. I spoke on various events about different topics. Starting from small corporate events and end up by large conferences.

My talks are most related to my current research and projects. Generally this are my major focused topics:

  • Requirement engineering and software engineering talks in context of complex software development processes
  • Leadership, values and norms, cultural differences and cooperate cultural change - topics which the automotive industry are faced today
  • Technical focused talks about continuous integration, continuous deployment, DevOps, refactoring, software quality and of course autonomously driving

Test Automation for Complex Services at 11th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology, Dec. 2018, Paris

Robin Steller and I explained an approach for a full automated testing method for new developed automotive mobile online services. This method reduces the manually effort for testing of services working directly with the car. This leads to a speed up of service development and time to market.

VOICE – Feedback, made simple at 10th Agile Community by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Nov. 2018, Hanover

Continuously improvement of your services, processes or products in a customer focused way is major important today. VOICE is a platform to connect users and product owners in a simple way such that they can interact. This talk focused on the psychology aspect of feedback and how VOICE enables users to give their feedback.

The Smart Car Revolution at The Conference Software Engineering of the Society for Computer Science, Feb. 2017, Hanover

The car industry undergoes a big change, triggered by more and more competitors entered the automotive branch of industry and turn the car from a hardware device into a software once. This talk explained why the change for the car industry is so difficult and with which future challenges the automotive industry will be confronted.

Older Talks

presented at the 6th Agile Community by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

I was talking about how I set up an DevOp approach for our project ConnectFleet. Basically I addressed the process we use and humanity part which we have build up to reach the values of openness, respect and courage. Additionally I showed which tool we used to enable all team members in living the values.

presented at the 6th Agile Community by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

I emphasize, for the automobile industry, the difference between the software development for online services on the one hand and the corresponding, hardware-near software development in vehicle projects. Based on the differences, today the overall offered service for customers is insufficient. As a conclusion I present an alternative, more DevOp-oriented approach to solve the ambivalence.

presented at the 3rd Agile Community by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Co-located Teams are great for agile process i.e. like scrum. But in general today the most of the teams are not co-located. Which practices are useful for distributed tram in an agile software development process? I show which actions I took to bring my distributed team for the project ConnectFleet together and how we worked to achieve the best result.

hold at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität in an open symposium.

I talked about the fundamental importance for self-driving vehicles to know the vehicle’s position and orientation. The resulting challenge is to allow mobile systems for a localization with a high degree of reliability and robustness in changing outdoor settings. These settings are often natural, spacious and complex. Therefore I showed real-time overall system: the Landmark based Localization (LbL).

hold at the 2nd International Conference on Robotics and Mechatronics (ICROM).

Soon cars will become service robots which require a precise self localization. But instead of interacting in a goodwill environment like offices or warehouses, automated cars will be interacting in the real world. Hence they have to handle different types of challenges like seasonal changes or weather conditions. Thus I talked about an architecture  which takes the weather specific environment into account.

given at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover in an open lecture.

In many areas of our everyday life robots have to struggle with dynamic objects. Under those circumstances it becomes difficult to localize the robot and therefore to generate maps needed to deprive it from collisions. I present in this talk a method, how the sensor data of dynamic objects can be used to localize a mobile robot system.

hold at the German Academic Exchange Service in a closed symposium.

Exchanging knowledge (technically und cultural) is major important for universities. A transnational education is one of the main goals. At this talk I show a concept how foreign students can be linked to local students such that both parties can learn from each other. As a benefit of this concept the foreign students would learn some first impressions about german customs simplify their start in Germany.

given at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover in an open lecture.

Within comprehensive path planning, not only a collision free way from the start to the goal is sought – in some assignments robots have to entirely cover or process a specified region. In different areas of application, i.e. the agriculture or home automatization, this task should be done efficient. With this talk I introduced an algorithm to accomplishes this task in an optimal character.
